For those who live with the condition, resilience and perseverance are necessary. We would love to share your stories to inspire and encourage others living with the same condition. Release TBA 

Alcoholism

Alcoholism is difficult; the battle to overcome the addiction can seem impossible. Families are tested, those fighting alcoholism sometimes fall, and each success comes with great celebration. Our Stories of Strength – Sobriety is seeking first-hand accounts of struggle and triumph in battling this condition that many have been touched by in their lives. Release TBA

Amyloidosis

Amyloidosis is a group of diseases that result from abnormal protein deposits in various tissues of the body. Proteins can accumulate in an organ or be can be widespread, affecting numerous organs and tissues.  Release TBA

Anxiety

There are several types of anxiety disorders that cause extreme distress and interferes with a person’s ability to lead a normal life. Despite the challenges, many people find ways to change their lives for the better. We look forward to reading and publishing your stories to bring hope to those facing these same challenges.  Release TBA

Autism

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication, and restricted and repetitive behavior. We know that many have worked diligently to overcome many of the challenges associated to Autism and want to share those stories of hope!  Release TBA

Autoimmune Diseases

Autoimmune diseases arise from an abnormal immune response of the body against substances and tissues normally present in the body. This may be restricted to certain organs or involve a particular tissue in different places. We want to share how you live well while balancing the nuances of any autoimmune disease. Release TBA

Cancer comes in many various forms but affects families in the same way. Our Stories of Strength™ is seeking to share stories of hope, strength, and perseverance while fighting the battle of a lifetime. Release TBA

Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is one of the most common inherited nerve disorders. CMT affects an estimated 2.6 million people worldwide, although experts believe the number could be much higher. For many affected, quality of life is challenged by the pain and functional difficulties. We have witnessed many overcome the challenges to embrace life with grace, dignity, and strength like none other. We want to share your stories.  Release TBA

Chronic Pain

Do you live in pain every single day, but the reason doesn’t fit with the topics covered above? If so, this book is for you. We want to hear all about how you have lived with pain and how you overcome it in your life. Your experiences can inspire the way other people live their lives. Share your struggles, your resolve, and your successes. Release TBA

Chronic Pelvic Pain

For women, chronic pelvic pain can be one of the most misunderstood causes of debilitating, disruptive pain in the body. Your stories are important to women living with the same issues that have yet to find any resolve. Some of the conditions linked to chronic pelvic pain are endometriosis, PCOS, inflammatory disease, fibroids, interstitial cystitis, pelvic congestion syndrome, and semen allergies. We know that this list is not complete, so please don’t limit yourself to one of these diagnoses to submit your story. Inspire other women who suffer in silence by sharing your tales. Release TBA

Craniocervical Instability

Craniocervical Instability (CCI) is a structural instability of the craniocervical junction which may result in the pathological deformation of the brainstem, upper spinal cord, and cerebellum. It primarily occurs in patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and other hereditary disorders of connective tissue. We want to hear your stories of strength, determination, and perseverance!  Release TBA

Cushing’s syndrome

Cushing’s syndrome occurs when the body suffers from prolonged cortisol due to medication or a tumor. The symptoms of Cushing’s can be debilitating and life-changing both physically and emotionally. Our Stories of Strength wants to share your stories of life before treatment and after to inspire hope for those living with the same challenges you’ve overcome. Release TBA

Cystic Fibrosis

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition known for the pulmonary involvement, but it also affects the liver, pancreas, kidneys, and the intestines. The symptoms vary among people affected by the condition, but at the heart of each individual is a strength, determination, and perseverance. Release TBA

Depression

Major depressive disorder is a disabling condition that adversely affects a person’s family, work or school life, sleeping and eating habits, and general health. We are committed to ending the stigma of depression and want to share your stories and how you persevere. Planned Release TBA

Down Syndrome

Down Syndrome is noted to be one of the most common chromosome abnormalities at a rate of approximately 1/1000. While the condition carries common facial characteristics, it comes with something else – Heart! There is something magical about the world when in the presence of a person living with this condition and we hope to capture stories of love, humor, and joy. Release TBA

Dysautonomia (All forms)

Over 70 million people worldwide live with various forms of dysautonomia. It affects individuals of all ages. POTS is one of the most common forms for dysautonomia. Living with the physical symptoms can be difficult, but living is what we do. We want to hear your stories of overcoming challenges to embrace each day. We know that your stories will be an inspiration to those within the community. Release TBA

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome II

After the publication of Our Stories of Strength™ – Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, we received countless additional submissions from “EDSers” asking if we are planning a second anthology. We will continue to accept submissions from those living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) until we receive as many stories as possible before we need to decide on which stories are best for inclusion. Epilepsy & Other Seizure Disorders

Seizures have a variety of causes, including head injuries, medical conditions, or genetics. No matter the underlying cause of seizures, we know there are stories of incredible strength, determination, and perseverance that stand above the challenges each face. We would love to share these moments and give back to the community simultaneously. Release TBA

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia affects as many as 5 million Americans. It is a condition that causes significant muscle pain, joint stiffness, nerve pain, and more. For those living with FM; some days, weeks, and months are more of a challenge than others. It’s during those difficult times when strength, perseverance, and determination become evident. Our Stories of Strength wants to give your pain a voice while reflecting moments in time where living your best life became your way of life. Gastroparesis

Does Gastroparesis affect your life? Similar to countless other chronic conditions, the severity of paralysis of the GI tract varies from person to person. A frequent discussion we often hear is that each person with Gastroparesis overcomes tremendous challenges to live life fully. We want to hear your inspiring stories!  Release TBA

Interstitial Cystitis

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a condition that results in recurring discomfort or pain in the bladder; most often referred to as “painful bladder syndrome.”. An estimated 3.3 million women and an estimated 1.6 million men are affected by IC. Planned Release TBA

Juvenile (Type 1) Diabetes

To quote a dear friend whose child has Type 1 diabetes, “I’m forever hopeful for medical advancement, but in awe at what [my child] overcomes each day in school, life, and sports.” These are the stories that inspire hope and teach others to live life to the fullest extent each day and are the stories we want to share. Planned Release TBA

There are countless reasons why children experience pain. For many, pain is their companion from an early age. What these children accomplish every single day is nothing short of a miracle, and we want to hear their stories from both a caregiver and personal perspective. Release TBA

Learning Disabilities

Are you parenting an exceptional child or children? Share with us your heartfelt moments of wonder, amazement, and joy as your child has worked diligently to overcome a significant challenge to achieve success. Have you been challenged in your life to overcome much as a result of Lupus? The struggles you face are real and so is how you choose to shine every single day. Your experiences and triumphs can change the world for just one person who feels alone while living with the same problems. We want to hear your stories! Release TBA

Lyme Disease

It is a multi-systemic inflammatory infection caused by the bite of an infected tick. Lyme disease causes a variety of symptoms, transmit in utero, and changes the way a person lives. We want to share your stories of overcoming the challenges of this infection. Release TBA

Mastocytosis and MCAS/MCAD

“He’s allergic to almost everything! How can this be?” I heard those words last year from an allergist about my son. It turned out he wasn’t allergic to everything, but rather had overactive mast cells. Watching my son overcome the challenges associated with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) has been inspiring. I know that he’s not the only one out there with a story — and we want to hear them! Share with us the challenges, how you overcame them, and the dreams you achieved as a result. Release TBA

Marfan Syndrome

Do you or someone you love live with Marfan Syndrome? As a genetic connective tissue disorder, the effects can be widespread and for many, not recognized until adulthood. We want to hear how you live with passion and purpose to inspire others within the community to do the same. Release TBA

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) affects people to varying degrees. For each individual living with MS, a level of strength and determination has been found to continue living in the best possible manner, and we want to showcase these stories. Release TBA

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

Fatigue is debilitating, encompassing, and life-changing. We know because we live with it. Navigating life when the exhaustion is overwhelming seems impossible, but we know that you do it every single day. Tell us your inspiring stories of how you give ME/CFS a kick! Your stories will inspire others within the community. Release TBA

Pudendal Neuralgia

The main symptom of pudendal neuralgia (PN) and pudendal nerve entrapment (PNE) is pain in one or more of the areas innervated by the pudendal nerve or one of its branches. The constant pain affects both men and women and adversely affects the quality of life. We are seeking stories of overcoming the challenges to embrace life well.  Release TBA

Raynaud’s  Phenomenon

Raynaud’s phenomenon causes blood flow to the skin, especially in the fingers and toes, to reduce as a result of cold or stress and is more intensified than a typical body response. In an attack, the vessels narrow faster and tighter resulting in numbness and pain once the blood flow returns to the extremities. This condition requires some to adjust how they live and work to reduce the number of attacks and the resulting pain. We want to know how you do what you do! Release TBA

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that primarily affects joints. It may result in deformed and painful joints, which can lead to loss of function. The disease may also have signs and symptoms in organs other than joints. We want to hear your stories of triumph! Release TBA

RSDS/CRPS

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSDS) is classified as a form of dysautonomia by some physicians. Although Our Stories of Strength is accepting submissions for an anthology that could encompass RSDS, we believe that these stories deserve a platform all of their own. We would love to hear how you navigate life, enjoy each moment, and celebrate your successes along the way. Planned Release TBA

Surviving Infant and Child Loss

In the words of Mysti Reutlinger, “Losing my firstborn son to SIDS was more than the greatest loss of my life, it ripped me to the core of who I thought I was and forced me to rebuild my life uncertain about everything I had ever known. His death was more than a loss of life; I lost all ability to hope and dream for the future.” Her personal struggle with complicated grief, deep depression, and PTSD as a result of that loss have inspired her to work with other parents in the same position. We would love to share your stories of embracing a new normal and ever-so-slowly moving forward. Release TBA

Surviving Miscarriage

Approximately 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. For families, this loss is devastating, heart-wrenching, and life-changing. We understand the emotional pain felt of losing a child during what should be the happiest times in life. Moving beyond the hurt to embrace life is a feat of strength, determination, and perseverance. We would love to share your stories, so other families know that they, too, are not alone. Release TBA

Surviving Suicide

Suicide is a topic that is difficult to discuss and even more difficult to survive after a loved one ends their life. This anthology is not meant to be a tribute to those who have gone, but a resource for those still standing after such a tragic loss. We ask that you share your tools, techniques, and methods in pushing forward to embrace living. The greatest care and consideration will be taken in working with you on submissions due to the emotional nature of this anthology. Release TBA

Thyroid Conditions

The thyroid is a gland that causes a wide array of health issues; some of them are debilitating. Within the Thyroid community, we’ve heard stories of triumph, perseverance, and strength from the core of people. These stories and the people who tell them are inspiring. We want to hear yours, too! Tell us how you’ve overcome challenges to achieve your dreams – large and small. Release TBA

Ulcerative Colitis and Chron’s Disease

Inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD, is a category of bowel disorders that includes both ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The effects of these conditions can be life-changing. Release TBA

Visually Impaired

Visual impairment is a decreased ability to see to a degree that additional it causes problems that are not fixable by usual means, such as glasses or medication. It can be due to either disease, trauma, or congenital or degenerative conditions. We want to hear stories from people facing these challenge in order to inspire others.
